Meet Our Founders

Dr. Lisa Piper, Ph.D., DNM
Owner/Managing Partner

Dr. Lisa's educational journey includes a B.S. in Business Management, an M.S. in Health Psychology, and she is a Board-Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine and Humanitarian Services. Complementing her formal education, she holds certificates in Life Coaching and Quantum Health Coaching, and is a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success. Driven by her passion for understanding consciousness and the energy that drives healing, she's an intuitive energy healer on a mission to transform healthcare with safe, complementary alternatives. 

Wendy Cohn-Osborne Owner/Managing Partner

Wendy, armed with 30 years of experience in legal, marketing, and healthcare industries, graduated from The Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Wendy's interest in the medical field sparked while practicing Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability Law, which led her to co-find a groundbreaking Medical Funding Company in 2006. In 2019, she became a Managing Partner at PurMed Global, spearheading the health and wellness market. An avid animal lover, Wendy finds joy in merging her wellness knowledge with her lifelong passion for animals.

Dr. John McMichael, Ph.D.

Chief Scientist

Dr. McMichael is our Chief Scientist. He is the President, and founder of the Institute for Therapeutic Discovery. In 2004, he also founded Beech Tree Labs, Inc., a discovery and early-stage development biopharmaceutical company. In 1993, he founded Milkhaus Laboratory, Inc. (MLI), and served as President from MLI’s inception through September 2000. From 1991 to 1992 he was Vice President of Molecular Rx, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on products for managing inflammatory responses. Before this, Dr. McMichael was engaged in independent research and served as general manager of ImmunoTherapeutics, a proprietorship focused on developing new therapeutic products. From 1975 through 1986, Dr. McMichael was Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor, and for the last four years, Professor of Biology and Health Sciences at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Dr. McMichael is cited as an inventor on more than 200 domestic and foreign patents. He received his B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maine and his Ph.D. from Oregon State University in Immunology and Virology, and did his post-doctoral work at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

Our Lab

Located in Providence, RI, Beech Tree Labs, Inc. (BTL) focuses on the discovery and early development of therapeutic agents that address a spectrum of unmet medical needs. The Company has an extensive portfolio of patented formulations for products that treat disorders such as allergies,  anxiety, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hypertrophy, and herpesvirus infections as well as other viral infections.


BTL has conducted 16 successful FDA-authorized phase 2 trials and has out-licensed both technology and products.

A unique aspect of BTL is the revolutionary technology, and the corresponding number of indications it addresses. This level of proven capability is the result of the efforts of its founder and president, John McMichael, Ph.D., the network of veterinarians, practicing physicians, medical scientists, and business relationships he has developed over decades of investigating Resonant Molecular Signaling therapies.
